Non-urgent transport in Belgium

Most people think that our ambulances only carry out serious or urgent interventions, this is not the case, we carry out non-urgent transport in Belgium as well as abroad, our services are often required for consultations, planned examinations, dialysis, more or less heavy treatments etc. We regularly carry out this type of transport either from the patient's home or from one hospital centre to another when the first is not equipped for the examination that the patient must undergo.

One can also be requested for example for someone who has to be admitted to a retirement home, for a person who has to move but is unable to do so due to health reasons, or due to injuries, in short everyone can need one, sometimes also for family reasons, for example we have already driven elderly people to their grandchildren's weddings, sometimes others to pay a last visit to a deceased person who was very close to them, there are a multitude of reasons for using this type of service.

As with any other type of mission, before sending a team to carry out a non-urgent transport in Belgium we ask to be informed as much as possible about the patient's destination, of course the date and time when he wishes to be taken care of as well as the time of the appointment if applicable, the reasons for his travel to be able to evaluate the waiting time on site or at least the time of his return etc., this information also allows us to evaluate the means that we will send him, in fact some patients can walk others cannot, some will need manipulations that others cannot etc. it is really important to inform ourselves as much as possible.

Any non-urgent transport in Belgium will be carried out with the same care as for an urgent transport, whatever the reason for the journey, we believe that every patient has the right to the same attention, whether it is a patient leaving a hospital, or going for a consultation or any other reason, it does not matter, our role is to provide comfort, safety and quality for their transport whatever the reason, the information we request in advance mainly helps us to send the means best suited to the patient's needs as we explained above, knowing whether a stretcher will be necessary or whether they are moving in a wheelchair already allows us to assess whether we will have to send one or two ambulance drivers and also what vehicle will be necessary.
